So, the hockey championships have begun. Unfortunately, I can’t watch them from here with my skills. I’ll have to occupy myself with other things! Eva believes that we might have more important things to do than watch hockey games. I somewhat lean towards that view… although I wouldn’t mind catching a few games of the Finnish national team. Perhaps the final!
Today was a transition day. We moved back from Antibes through Avignon to Velleron. We drove quite fast, so we didn’t really get to enjoy the scenery much. We had already seen it once anyway. We could have chosen a different route, but since we had to return the keys to the apartment at 8:30 in the morning and return the car to the rental agency during the morning, there wasn’t much choice but to drive the shortest/fastest route to Avignon.
Auli and her sister Päivi welcomed us. We drove with them to the bakery and then to Auli’s home. Auli was preparing salmon soup for the evening. We got to participate in the preparation of the soup. At the same time, we got to know Päivi.
An early wake-up call, a chilly night (the air heat pump blew cold air all night, and there wasn’t a proper blanket), and a three-hour drive made us rest before dinner.
The salmon soup was Finnish and very tasty. A glass of sparkling wine as an aperitif and white wine with the soup – that really makes the eyes droop.
I think I’ll check the hockey results in the morning…”
