Duckmonton – Cawood

May 29th

Waking up behind the pub, having a discreet pee in the bush in the drizzle, is quite a decent experience. After that, I went back to lounge under the covers for a while.

There was no rush today. We had an hour’s drive to Jette’s place, so we took it easy. We grabbed a couple of lattes to go in the Starbucks, and headed to the next rest stop for a snack. There, we looked at maps and decided to visit Conisbrough Castle, which was conveniently on our route. Besides the historical aspect, a significant observation was a kestrel’s nest with five chicks just half a meter away behind a protective glass. A splendid sight!

We arrived at Jette’s place within the estimated time frame (around 12 – 1 PM). It was a warm meeting. We sat, chatted, reminisced about friends, shared stories about ourselves and people we know, enjoyed excellent lasagna, had glasses of red wine, and finished with dessert cheeses and port wine.

It was wonderful – absolutely wonderful to be together here, where a warm atmosphere is constantly present. We already planned tomorrow’s activities and examined the maps. I messaged with Outi Eranti and prepared for our trip to Ireland. But before that, we must make it to Manchester to vote!

Now, off to bed to think about who to vote for… (though I actually already know…)
