Goodness gracious. Finland melted in Austria’s hands! You wouldn’t have noticed it here in Austria, though! I guess I was the only one who was even remotely following the situation. I suppose icehockey isn’t as big of a deal as a significant portion of Finns think!
However, we woke up in Switzerland this morning. We had the most splendid breakfast and delightful conversations at Hannu’s and Suzanne’s place. As a bonus, we got a taste of Hannu’s musical compositions, played through Finnish Genelec speakers. I almost got excited!
We said a grateful farewell to our wonderful friends and continued our journey towards Austria. Hopefully, we’ll meet again – preferably in the near future. The trip from Geneva to the Austrian side could be the most magnificent experience in terms of scenery. For us, it was a drive in gray rainy weather, with no sight of mountain landscapes. Hanging clouds and numerous tunnels were our views down below.
In the early afternoon, we stopped in Aarburg, where we found a restaurant in the town center serving pasta that suited our taste. As a farewell gift, they gave us a bar of Swiss chocolate. What a pleasant visit and a charming village! As a bonus, I realized I could speak short German phrases – several of them.
The border formalities at the Swiss-Austrian border were even more minimal than minimal. We drove smoothly straight to Christopher’s and Ulli’s home. A call from the yard to the host – and the door opened with joyful reunions. It’s been about a decade since we last met face-to-face. After their son River returned home, the orchestra was complete. Wonderful reminiscing, browsing through photos and videos. Joy and comfort.
